‘We are going to win the Premier League’
Pep Guardiola is adamant that Manchester City will win a record-breaking fourth Premier League title in a row.
The reigning English champions have suffered a dip in form in recent weeks picking up three consecutive draws, which has seen them slip to third in the table.
Score draws against Chelsea, Liverpool and most recently Tottenham have allowed league leaders Arsenal and second-placed Liverpool to capitalise and overtake the reigning champions.
However, despite City’s dip in form, boss Guardiola did not seem worried in his pre-match press conference ahead of the club’s tricky trip to Aston Villa on Wednesday.
“My feeling today is that we are going to win the Premier League,” he insisted. “If we play the levels like we did against Liverpool and Tottenham, we are going to win it again.
“People don’t believe it already because of the three draws, but we’re going to do it again. Knowing that it is not easy.
“No team has done it yet [win four consecutive Premier League titles], so that’s why the difficulty is there, it was last season, it was this season.
“But if you ask me today what you’re feeling, we’re going to do it again.”
Spurs took the lead through Heung-min Son before he scored an own goal moments later. City then took the lead through Phil Foden before Giovani Lo Celso levelled for the visitors. Substitute Jack Grealish thought he had scored the winner but Kulusevski earned a late draw for Spurs.
Uncharacteristically, they had to battle from two goals down at home with strikes from Erling Haaland, Foden and Julian Alvarez keeping them perfect in the Champions League group stages.
Next, City travel to in-form Villa who have won their last 13 Premier League matches at Villa Park under Unai Emery’s guidance.
