Tottenham in talks to sell defender

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou will be looking to delve into the transfer market this summer. 

The Australian guided the Lilywhites to a fifth-placed finish in the Premier League during his first season in charge, and he will undoubtedly be hoping to improve on that next term.

There could be plenty of comings and goings at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the next few weeks, but in the meantime, it appears that Spurs are in talks with an Italian side over one of their current defenders.

As per Football Insider, AC Milan have entered talks with Tottenham over a potential move for full-back Emerson Royal.

The Brazilian joined Spurs from La Liga giants Barcelona back in 2021 and has since played 101 times for the North London side across all competitions.

The report claims that Spurs are willing to sell the player this summer and are looking to offload him permanently.

Milan, however, are exploring multiple options including a potential loan deal with an obligation-to-buy clause.

It is claimed that Spurs will then use the money to invest in a younger right-back who can develop under Postecoglou’s guidance.

The left-back, who can also play on the right of defence, is contracted to Spurs until the end of the 2025/26 season., but it appears increasingly likely that he will leave London during the current transfer window.

As well as potentially replacing Royal, the report claims that Spurs are also keeping tabs on Leeds United sensation Archie Gray, 18, who has impressed at Elland Road over the past 12 months.
