talkSPORT betting tips – Best football bets and expert advice for Man Utd vs Newcastle
Two teams in contrasting form clash at Old Trafford on Monday evening as Manchester United host Newcastle United in the final Premier League fixture of 2024.
The Red Devils have struggled to find their feet under Ruben Amorim, losing four of their last five Premier League matches and, after suffering a 2-0 Boxing Day defeat at Wolves, they will be desperate to right the ship against Newcastle.
However, visitors Newcastle will be hoping to compound their hosts’ misery and Eddie Howe’s men head to Manchester full of confidence after winning three straight league games.

Magpies’ march should continue
Newcastle have posted three dominant wins over Leicester, Ipswich and ten-man Aston Villa in their three most recent matches and it’s easy to argue that a clash with the Red Devils is not a step up.
The Old Trafford outfit have won just two of seven league matches since Amorim took charge – a 4-0 victory over Everton at the beginning of December and a 2-1 derby triumph over an equally troubled Manchester City team.
United have perhaps not been as bad as their results suggest – they posted superior expected goals (xG) figures in home losses against Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth – but that won’t be enough to console supporters who are already questioning the new regime.
Amorim does not appear certain of his best team and he’ll be without captain Bruno Fernandes for this one after the influential midfielder was sent off in the defeat against Wolves.
Newcastle, on the other hand, are a much more settled unit and, while they haven’t always been at their best on their travels, collecting just 11 of their 29 points on the road, there is little to fear from a trip to Old Trafford these days.
Joelinton’s discipline may slip again
Two card bets appeal, starting with Newcastle midfielder Joelinton, who has a habit of falling foul of the referee’s whistle in this fixture.
The Brazilian has committed 38 fouls this season – nine more than any other Newcastle player, which makes him among the worst offenders in the Premier League – and he’s been booked in each of his last two matches.
Joelinton was cautioned in EFL Cup clashes at Old Trafford in both the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, while he also had his name taken when Newcastle defeated the Red Devils at home in the league last term.
Yoro could find Toon attack too hot
Leny Yoro’s Manchester United career stalled due to injury, but the teenage centre-back started a Premier League match for the second time against Wolves and quickly found himself in the thick of the action.
The 19-year-old Frenchman was booked after just four minutes and, if he starts on Monday, he could find life tough against Newcastle’s livewire attackers Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.
Yoro made three tackles against Wolves and committed two fouls and he’s likely to be under more pressure this time around.
