Spurs anticipating ‘huge’ offer for attacker
Tottenham Hotspur face German giants Bayern Munich in their final pre-season friendly before the new Premier League campaign.
The Lilywhites were beaten 2-1 by Bayern last weekend, but Ange Postecoglou’s side will be desperate to avenge that defeat and give themselves the best possible preparation for the new season.
Spurs face newly-promoted Leicester City on the opening weekend of the upcoming campaign, and Postecoglou will hope to see his side replicate the strong start they made to last term.
One player that might not be involved with Tottenham this season, though, is forward Richarlison.
According to Football Insider, the North London club are anticipating a ‘huge’ offer for the Brazilian forward from a club in the Saudi Arabian Pro League.
The 27-year-old striker joined Tottenham from fellow Premier League outfit Everton two years ago and, after a disappointing debut campaign in the capital, scored 12 times in 31 games for Postecoglou’s side last term.
The Brazilian has already been offered a ‘massive’ pay hike to move to the Middle East, it says, with clubs in the Saudi Pro League set to decide their budgets in the near future.
Clubs in Saudi Arabia are able to complete deals until their transfer window shuts in early October, so Tottenham could have to fend off interest in the Brazil international well into the new campaign.
Spurs paid £50 million to sign Richarlison from the Toffees in 2022, but the report suggests that selling the forward could allow Spurs to fund a move for a marquee striker signing.
The club haven’t replaced Harry Kane since the England captain joined Bayern Munich last summer, and Postecoglou is believed to be keen to do so before the end of the current window.
In total, Richarlison has scored 15 goals and provided three assists in 66 games for the Lilywhites.
