Sons of ex-Premier League players score for Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp’s kids shine again
Lewis Koumas and Jayden Danns became the latest youngsters to shine for Liverpool as they scored on their first senior starts.
The 18-year-olds are the respective sons of Jason Koumas and Neil Danns, with the former playing for West Brom and Wigan Athletic and the latter featuring for Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City.
Liverpool’s Carabao Cup final victory against Chelsea featured many of the club’s young prospects amid a series of injuries.
And when they returned to Anfield for the visit of Southampton in the FA Cup, it was two youngsters who proved key.
On the stroke of half-time on his Liverpool debut, Koumas shot from the edge of the area and a deflection took it into the back of the net.
It’s just the fourth time the winger has been named in a senior squad for the club, all of which have come this season.

Koumas was an unused substitute against Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League, Burnley in the Premier League and Chelsea in the Carabao Cup prior to Wednesday night.
He joined Liverpool’s youth setup eight years ago following a three-year stint at the Tranmere Rovers academy.
Danns then added their second of the night with a cheeky finish over the goalkeeper before smashing home a third late on.
The forward has spent his entire youth and senior career at Liverpool and came off the bench in extra-time of the Carabao Cup final.
