Now, in an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, former Brazilians midfielder Bennett Mnguni has stated that it takes a strong coach to let a player like Sirino go.
“You know, it’s a competition so maybe at training he is not giving what the coach wants. It’s unfortunate we don’t see what happens at training but I can say that I respect the strength of coach Rulani (Mokwena),” Mnguni told the Siya crew.
“For him to take that decision and let Sirino go shows strong character. You have to be a strong coach to take such a decision because supporters will be against you.
“You have to be accurate. And I think his accuracy came through with his new signings. He has signed players who are like Sirino in terms of speed, attacking prowess and intensity,” Mnguni added.
Mnguni reminded fans how Sundowns are participating in six different tournaments this season and ideally would’ve needed the Uruguayan for squad depth.
“No time to give chances to players who are not committed. At Sundowns we don’t do that.
“It’s time to win games in all the competitions we will be playing in. I can say we need Sirino depending on what he does at training.
“It’s a sensitive issue of letting him go but as I have said it takes a strong coach to let such a player go. But also that means he has valid reasons.
“I personally applaud him for that if it’s good for the team. Supporters may not understand because they are not there at training but the coach knows what he is doing,” Mnguni told Soccer Laduma.
