Nike has seen better days in the soccer universe. February hasn’t been too kind as Nike has missed out on a golden opportunity to secure a long-term deal with Al Nassr. Their exit is Adidas’s gain, as the German sportswear company signed a 3-year deal with the Saudi club. How would an Adidas-sponsored kit look on Cristiano Ronaldo & Co.? A proposed design has recently surfaced on the internet.

Earlier, Duneus, a domestic brand, was the kit supplier for the Knights of Najd. In July 2023, Nike assumed the kit duties, but the partnership was for a year only. Could the arrival of CR7 have had a part to play in Al Nassr initially opting for Nike?

A rendition of a possible concept has emerged on X and users are impressed. Designed by Al-Dawoodi (who designed Qatar’s NT kit for the Asian Cup); blue is the dominant color, and it is well-complemented with splashes of yellow. On the left side of the chest is the Al Nassr logo, while on the right lies the famous Adidas emblem. Like the current away kit, in the middle- in yellow lies the KAFD logo, which happens to be the main sponsor for the Saudi club. The highlight is the sleeves, which feature yellow and blue segments alternatively.

At first glance itself, this is much more catchy and pleasing to the eye than the current away kit. The current one features a much darker shade of blue and the element of yellow is very minimal. Rather, the yellow appears more like a gold-ish tint. Hence, it seems, Al-Dawoodi aims for a more vibrant approach. Well, he succeeds greatly in that. While the club hasn’t provided an official glimpse yet, a confirmed render remains to be seen. Nevertheless, Nike’s most valuable athlete, Cristiano Ronaldo, won’t be donning a Nike kit much longer. For club nor country.

It was in 1997 that Nike became the Portugal National Team’s official kit sponsor. The 26-year-old partnership will come to an end this year with Puma set to replace them from January 2025. The upcoming Euro 2024, will be the last soccer tournament where Cristiano Ronaldo & Co. will be donning the American giant’s kits.

It will be interesting to see how this affects Cristiano Ronaldo and Nike’s partnership. The soccer icon had signed a $1 billion-worth lifetime contract with Nike in 2016. Although, at the time, he donned the famous white Adidas kit for Real Madrid, he was always wearing Nike with the National Team, until now.
