Payment terms revealed as Arsenal close on Bukayo Saka contract agreement

A major update on the ongoing efforts of the powers that be at Premier League giants Arsenal to tie a key member of the club’s first-team squad down to a new contract has been forthcoming on Thursday evening.

The Gunners star in question? Bukayo Saka.

Wide-man Saka, of course, has long established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet of boss Mikel Arteta in north London.

Owing to a near-unique combination of touch, skill, pace, intelligence and, crucially, finished product, the Hale End youth product, across the campaign to date, has featured from the off in all of Arsenal’s league 23 outings.

Not only that, but owing to a head-turning nine goals and eight assists, Saka’s stellar contributions in the final third have helped to guide his long-time club to a surprise spot atop the table.

In turn, it has not exactly come as a shock to hear of the Emirates hierarchy, for some time now, working towards locking the club’s star attacker down for the foreseeable future.

And now, as alluded to above, a breakthrough in such efforts appears to have been found.

As per a report from Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail, ‘Bukayo Saka is set to sign a new deal’ in north London.

Some minor details, it is understood, still require finalising on Arsenal’s part, but the keenness of Saka himself to stay put means that all associated with the Gunners are now confident that a definitive agreement is imminent.

The terms of the deal are expected to see the 21-year-old’s current pay packet significantly raised, to a ‘minimum’ of £10 million-per-year.
