Alex Iwobi completed his move from Everton to Fulham on the summer transfer deadline day, ending his 5-year stay with the club

Fulham have announced the signing of Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi from Everton for an undisclosed fee, Soccernet.ng reports.

Iwobi has agreed on a contract with the Cottagers until the summer of 2028, bringing his five-year sojourn with the Toffees to an end.

The 27-year-old was one of the key players for Everton in a difficult few years, his displays for them were one of the positives, particularly last season when his 10 goals involvement helped the club avoid relegation and also saw him named Players’ Player of the Season.

I’m buzzing, I can’t just wait to get started, I’m excited to start my journey here, Iwobi said to FFCtv during his presentation

Marco Silva spoke to me about the ambitions of the club, and I’m on board. Hopefully I can bring something to the club.

While reacting to Fulham’s acquisition of the Nigerian midfielder, vice chairman and director of football operations, Tony Khan revealed that Iwobi is an exciting player the club has been tracking for a while.

I’m happy to welcome Alex Iwobi to Fulham! He’s an exciting and versatile player whom we’ve admired for some time.

He has experience in the Premier League and in international competition with Nigeria. We’re excited that Alex has joined us on a long-term contract, and we believe that he’ll make a valuable contribution to Marco’s squad.

Come on Fulham

After moving through the age groups at Arsenal, Iwobi was handed his first team debut by Arsene Wenger at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, going on to record 15 goals and 25 assists in 149 appearances before departing for Everton in the summer of 2019.

Iwobi has 63 caps for Nigeria and has scored 10 ten goals in that time.

The 27-year-old will now team up with his Calvin Bassey who had earlier joined Fulham from Ajax in the summer.
