Man United chasing new ‘keeper
Ruben Amorim picked up his first Premier League win in style as his side cruised to a 4-0 victory over Everton on Sunday.
The Portuguese was appointed as United’s new head coach last month but saw his side held to a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town in his opening game.
After overseeing a 3-2 win against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday, two goals each from Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee earned Amorim the first league victory of his tenure at Old Trafford.
The former Sporting CP boss will be pleased with his side’s performances in the first ten days of his time in Manchester, but they will face undoubtedly their toughest test yet when they travel to London to face title-chasing Arsenal on Wednesday.
After a brief blip in form, the Gunners returned to their best with a resounding 5-2 win over West Ham United on Sunday, and Amorim will be wary of their attacking threat.
In the meantime, it has emerged that Man United are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper.
According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the Manchester club are happy with current number one Andre Onana, but are on the hunt for a new third choice ‘keeper.
Onana joined United from Inter Milan last summer and endured a difficult start to his time in England, but he has improved hugely of late.
Plettenberg claims that those in charge of the club are happy with his progress and do not intend to replace him as first choice ‘keeper, but they are on the hunt for a new third choice.
He also claims that they could be in need of a second choice goalkeeper if current back-up, Altay Bayindir, departs the club in the near future.
Bayindir joined United from Turkish giants Fenerbahce last year but has since made just three appearances for the Red Devils and is yet to make his Premier League debut.
