Man United boss Amorim open to selling key player

Man United boss Amorim open to selling key player

Manchester United will hope to continue their recent run of good form when they face Nottingham Forest on April 1.

The Red Devils have endured a dismal season so far and currently sit 13th in the Premier League table, having already been knocked out of the FA Cup.

Ruben Amorim’s side remain in the Europa League, though, and the Portuguese will hope that a win against Leicester City prior to the international break can help kickstart his side’s season.

This summer could be an important one at Old Trafford, with Amorim overseeing a transfer window for the first time since taking charge.

Now, it appears that the former Sporting CP boss has decided that he is willing to sell one of his key players.

According to TBR Football, the United boss is willing to sell goalkeeper Andre Onana, who has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia.

The 28-year-old joined the Red Devils from Italian side Inter Milan in the summer of 2023 but has since endured a difficult period at Old Trafford.

Onana has emerged as a target for clubs in Saudi Arabia

In total the Cameroonian has kept 22 clean sheets in 91 games for United across all competitions, but a number of high profile mistakes – particularly at the start of his time in England – has prompted criticism of his performances.

The report claims that United are hoping to add a new goalkeeper to Amorim’s squad this summer, with Burnley ‘keeper James Trafford one of their targets.

With that in mind, the club could consider selling Onana, and the report claims that the player himself is open to the prospect of a move away from Manchester.

Onana is under contract with United until the summer of 2028, but clubs in the wealthy Saudi league will likely have no issues with agreeing a fee for the 42-time Cameroon international.

It is claimed that clubs in the Pro League are also keeping tabs on Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson and Liverpool’s Alisson.
