Man United and Liverpool eyeing move for Barcelona youngster
Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s first Premier League match in charge on Sunday afternoon.
Having guided the Red Devils to a resounding 5-2 win over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, interim boss Van Nistelrooy saw his side go ahead against the Blues through a Bruno Fernandes penalty in the second half.
Their lead was short lived, though, as midfielder Moises Caicedo struck a stunning volley to draw the visitors level at Old Trafford.
Neither side were able to find a winner, meaning the points were shared.
The result moved Chelsea above Arsenal and into fourth spot, while United sit 13th in the Premier League table.
Now, it appears that the Manchester club are chasing a highly-rated Barcelona youngster.
As per CaughtOffside, both Man United and Liverpool are interested in Barcelona’s defensive midfielder Marc Casado.
The 21-year-old has impressed for the Spanish giants in the early stages of the new season, making 13 appearances across all competitions to take his tally for the club to 18 games at senior level.
Both the Red Devils and the Reds are said to have scouted the midfielder, while Newcastle United are also said to appreciate him.
Casado is contracted to Barcelona until the end of the 2027/28 campaign, but the report claims that Liverpool in particular view the Spaniard as a player that could instantly make an impact in their midfield, despite his relative lack of experience.
The midfielder is a product of Barca’s youth academy and has established himself as a key player for Hansi Flick’s side this term, but his performances haven’t gone unnoticed and some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs are now monitoring his situation.
