Man City ponder January move for Premier League defender
Manchester City’s dire run of form continued on Sunday as they were beaten 2-1 by fierce rivals Manchester United at The Etihad.
The Citizens went into Sunday’s match having won just one of their previous ten games, but defender Jose Gvardiol headed them into a first-half lead.
Pep Guardiola’s side looked set to pick up three important points until the closing stages, when Matheus Nunes fouled Amad Diallo, who was awarded a penalty.
Bruno Fernandes converted from the spot, before Diallo latched on to a long ball over the top and put the visitors in front in added time.
The result leaves City and United fifth and 13th respectively in the Premier League standings.
Off the pitch, City are reportedly considering a January move for a Premier League defender.
As per GiveMeSport, the reigning champions are considering a move for Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson when the transfer window reopens next month.
Robinson, 27, has been in fine form for Marco Silva’s side this term, most recently setting up two goals as the Cottagers drew 2-2 against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
The American joined Fulham from Football League side Wigan Athletic back in 2020 and has since established himself as one of the best left-backs in the English top flight.
He has played every minute of the Cottagers’ Premier League campaign so far, and the report claims that City are weighing up a January move for the player having been impressed when scouting the defender.
It is claimed that the Citizens have compiled impressive reports on the US international, who has been capped 50 times by his country at senior level.
Robinson is contracted to Fulham until 2028 and the report suggests that the West London side will demand a fee in the region of £40 million for the player.
