Liverpool star ‘flattered’ by interest from Real Madrid
While the transfer window hasn’t officially opened yet, Premier League clubs are already hard at work as they try to bolster their squads this summer.
The upcoming window could be a busy one for several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea who are currently on the hunt for a new manager following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino earlier this week.
Liverpool could also be busy this summer, with Arne Slot having been officially announced as Jurgen Klopp’s replacement.
The Dutchman will likely be keen to bolster his squad this summer, but it appears that the Reds may face a battle to keep hold of one of their star players.
As per Football Insider, midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is ‘flattered’ by interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Mac Allister joined the Reds from Brighton and Hove Albion last summer and enjoyed a superb debut season on Merseyside, making 46 appearances across all competitions.
The Argentina scored seven goals and provided the same number of assists during his first season at Anfield, but his impressive displays didn’t go unnoticed and Real are said to be interested in the midfielder.
The Spanish giants, who face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final at the start of June, will be without Toni Kroos next season after the German midfielder announced he will retire following this summer’s European Championships.
Despite being flattered by apparent interest from Real Madrid, the report also claims that Mac Allister is fully focussed on his current club and is looking ahead to next season under new manager Slot.
The Argentina international is contracted to Liverpool until the end of the 2027.28 season, putting the Reds under very little pressure to sell this summer.
