Liverpool and Tottenham on alert with Premier League midfielder’s future uncertain
Tottenham Hotspur travel to the south coast to face struggling Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
Antonio Conte’s side will be looking to cement fourth place in the Premier League table with victory over The Saints, but the south coast side will be boosted after picking up a point with a goalless draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford last week.
A win would see Spurs leapfrog Manchester United into third place in the table, with The Red Devils facing Fulham in the FA Cup quarter-finals this weekend.
In the meantime, Spurs are said to be one of a number of clubs keeping tabs on a Premier League midfielder who faces an uncertain future.
According to 90min, Wolves are preparing to offer midfielder Ruben Neves a new deal in a bid to deter interest from elsewhere.
The Portugal international has established himself as one of the best central midfielders in the English top flight in recent seasons, but his performances haven’t gone unnoticed.
The report claims that Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle United have all requested to be notified of any developments in the player’s situation.
Neves, 26, joined Wolves from Porto back in 2017 and has since made more than 240 appearances for the club.
The Portuguese surprised many people when he left Porto to join then-Championship side Wolves six years ago, but he has since impressed at Molineux and is now attracting interest from other clubs.
As well as the trio of Premier League sides said to be interested, Spanish clubs Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are both also said to be keeping tabs on the midfielder.
Neves’ current contract with Wolves is set to expire in 2024 and his current employers are therefore keen to extend his stay and ensure he remains with the club beyond next summer.
This term, Neves has scored five goals in 26 Premier League matches for Wolves, who have been struggling and find themselves in a relegation battle at present.
