Key period ahead for Arsenal in pursuit of striker

Arsenal will hope to keep alive their Premier League title hopes when they host Everton on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw by London rivals Fulham last time out, ending a run of three consecutive wins in the competition.

That result left leaders Liverpool six points ahead of the Gunners, while the Reds also have a game-in-hand over their rivals in the race for the title.

With the January transfer window now fast approaching, it appears that Arsenal face a key couple of weeks in their pursuit of a Serie A striker.

According to GiveMeSport, Arsenal will have to wait until the end of the year to find out if they have a realistic chance of signing Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, 24.

The Serbia international will soon enter into the final 18 months of his current deal with the Old Lady, and talks over a new deal haven’t yet progressed.

Arsenal have therefore been monitoring the forward, who was previously a target for the Gunners.

Vlahovic remains a target for Arsenal

Despite this, it is claimed that Juventus are hoping to reach an agreement with the player over an extension to his deal, with talks scheduled to take place before the end of 2024.

Vlahovic has scored 51 goals in 119 matches for Juventus since joining the club in 2022, most recently netting the opener as the Italian side beat Manchester City 2-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Arsenal are said to have been monitoring the player’s situation as he nears the final 18 months of his £350,000-per-week deal, and the North London side could revisit a move for him if he doesn’t reach an agreement with his current employers over an extension.

Over the summer Juventus had valued the striker at around £67 million, but the report suggests that Arsenal and other interested clubs are hoping to sign him for a lower amount.
