Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes is in the running for March’s Premier League Goal-of-the-Month award.

The captain’s smart finish, following a pass by fellow Portugal international Diogo Dalot, capped a fine 3-0 away win at Leicester City, in our last outing.

It continued his excellent run of form and the thumping drive past home keeper Mads Hermansen, in the 90th minute, was the perfect way to sign off before the lengthy international break.

Watch Bruno’s Goal of the Month contender.

The shortlist announced by the Premier League features seven other candidates, including one from a former United Academy graduate in Anthony Elanga.

The winger, due to face the Reds at The City Ground next Tuesday, is included for his first effort in the win over Ipswich Town.

Jens Cajuste’s strike in the same game also features, as do goals from Marcus Tavernier (Bournemouth), Marc Cucurella (Chelsea), Pervis Estupinan (Brighton & Hove Albion) and Omar Marmoush (Manchester City).

Although Declan Rice’s equaliser in our 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Old Trafford is nominated, it is something of a surprise that Bruno’s opener in the fixture did not make the cut.

The superb free-kick that flew past David Raya, just before half-time, was voted our Goal of the Month by the fans as the clear winner.

You can vote for Bruno’s Leicester strike here, with entries closing on Friday 4 April at 13:00 BST.
