Chelsea ask to be kept informed about Serie A star

Chelsea will hope to return to winning ways when they face Aston Villa on Saturday. 

Enzo Maresca’s side have won just two of their past nine Premier League matches, having been beaten 3-0 by Brighton and Hove Albion on the south coast on Friday night.

That result left the Blues sixth in the Premier League table and in serious danger of missing out on qualification for the Champions League next term, despite having looked to be challenging for the title in December.

Despite their poor form since Christmas, Chelsea were very quiet in terms of incomings during the January transfer window, although a number of players did depart Stamford Bridge.

Now, it has emerged that Chelsea enquired about a talented attacker during talks to offload one of their current players.

TBR Football claims that the West London outfit asked to be kept informed about the availability of Rafael Leao during discussions with AC Milan over a loan move for Joao Felix last month.

Leao has attracted interest from Chelsea

Felix only joined the Blues last summer but was sent out on loan to Milan in January having failed to establish himself as a regular in Maresca’s first choice side.

The report claims that, during negotiations over the deal, Chelsea requested to be kept informed about Leao’s situation, with the London side still on the hunt for new attackers despite signing several players over the last couple of years.

Leao, 25, departed French side Lille to join AC Milan in 2019 and has since played 245 times for the Italian club, scoring 67 times and providing 57 assists.

It is claimed that Chelsea have been in regular contact with their Italian counterparts and have asked to be updated on the player’s situation.
