Head Coach of the Nigerian under-20 national team, Ladan Bosso, expressed relief as the Flying Eagles secured their first victory at the 13th African Games, Soccernet.ng reports.

The team clinched a hard-fought 1-0 win against South Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium, with Sadiq Muhammed sealing the win from the penalty spot 10 minutes from time.

The seven-time U-20 Africa Cup of Nations champions fell to a shocking loss to Uganda in the opening of the tournament, raising concerns in the Nigerian football community.

Meanwhile, after stealing all three points in a hard-fought clash against the South Sudanese youth team, they are able to keep their hope alive of winning the tournament.

Reflecting on the match, Bosso acknowledged the challenge his side faced, emphasizing the difficulty of the game.

He attributed the victory to the team’s perseverance and thanked God for the crucial three points. Bosso also highlighted the limitations in their preparation due to time constraints but praised his players for their effort.

“It was a hard-fought victory and I thank God that we got the three points we needed. Our preparation was not solid because we had a limited time to prepare for the games,” he said, as quoted by Daily Post.

Looking ahead, the Flying Eagles are set to face Senegal in their final group game, with a draw enough to secure a spot in the semi-finals.

With this vital match on the horizon, Bosso and his team remain focused on achieving their objectives in the tournament.
