Arsenal plotting move for new attacker
Arsenal will hope to keep alive their chances of winning the Premier League title by beating Brentford on Wednesday night.
The Gunners have finished as runners-up in each of the past two seasons but currently find themselves third in the table, nine points behind leaders Liverpool.
Manager Mikel Arteta will hope to see his side get the better of the Bees, who have lost just once at home in the Premier League so far this term.
With the January transfer window fast approaching, it has emerged that Arsenal are hoping to sign a player in one position in particular.
As per Football Insider, the North London club are now on the hunt for attacking reinforcements following Bukayo Saka’s recent injury.
The England international has undergone surgery after picking up a hamstring injury against Crystal Palace before Christmas, and isn’t expected back for several months.
Saka, 23, was making his 250th appearance for the Gunners when he picked up the injury, and such is his importance to Arteta’s side, Arsenal are now plotting a new signing when the transfer window reopens on Wednesday.
It is claimed that Arsenal will look at players that might be available for loan during the mid-season window, rather than moving to sign a player permanently.
The Gunners won’t be able to sign a player on loan from a fellow Premier League side, though, as they have already filled their two loan spots with Raheem Sterling and goalkeeper Neto.
The report suggests that Arsenal cannot afford a permanent signing in January, and that those in charge of the club’s recruitment believe that their preferred targets will not be available anyway.
