Arsenal hoping to sign Premier League star on free transfer
Arsenal will be hoping to keep the pressure up on Premier League leaders Manchester City when they face Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.
Mikel Arteta’s side recently surrendered top spot to the reigning champions, and City also have a game in hand as well as boasting a one-point lead over their opponents.
The reigning champions face Everton on Sunday, though, and the Toffees will be desperate to secure another crucial victory and move a step closer to securing their top flight survival.
In the meantime, it appears that Arsenal are hoping to sign a Premier League forward on a free transfer this summer.
As per Football Insider, the Gunners are interested in Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, who is set to be out of contract this summer.
The Ivory Coast international has spent the majority of his senior career at Selhurst Park – with the exception of brief spells with Cardiff City and Manchester United – but it looks increasingly likely that he will depart Palace this summer.
With that in mind, Arsenal are reportedly plotting an offer for the Ivorian and are hopeful that they will be able to sign him.
Zaha, 30, has scored 90 goals and provided 76 assists in 457 matches for Palace across all competitions.
This term, the forward has netted seven times in 26 Premier League appearances, helping the Eagles to steer clear of relegation.
The report claims that Palace have held talks with the player in the hope of agreeing a contract extension, but Zaha is said to be intent on leaving to pursue a new challenge.
Arsenal’s rivals Chelsea, as well as French side Marseille, are said to be interested in signing Zaha and could rival the Gunners for the Ivorian’s signature.
Tottenham Hotspur have also had a long-standing interest in the player, and had a £45 million offer for him rejected five years ago.
