Arsenal handed huge transfer boost
Arsenal will hope to keep alive their slim Premier League title hopes when they face Everton on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners beat Fulham 2-1 in their last outing on Tuesday night, temporarily cutting Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table to nine points.
The Reds restored their 12-point advantage, though, with a win over the Toffees in the Merseyside Derby on Wednesday.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will be desperate to bolster his squad when the transfer window reopens this summer, with his side having suffered with injuries in attack this term.
Now, it appears that the North London side have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of one of Europe’s most prolific scorers.
According to TBR Football, Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres’ representatives have indicated that a move to The Emirates this summer would be hugely appealing.
The Gunners are set to be in the market for a new striker, and the Swede has emerged as one of their top targets.
Gyokeres, 26, has been in sensational form for Sporting this season, netting 43 times in 43 games as well as registering 11 assists.
The report claims that the player and his representatives have recently become aware of just how serious Arsenal’s interest in him is, and they are therefore willing to make a move to North London their priority for the upcoming summer window.
Gyokeres left Coventry City to move to Lisbon in 2023 and has since established himself as one of the most prolific goal scorers in Europe, scoring 86 goals in 93 games for the club across all competitions.
It is claimed that the player has been impressed with Arsenal’s approach to a potential deal so far, with the Sweden international less concerned about finances and more focussed on ensuring that the project is correct when he finds his next club.
The forward is currently under contract until the end of the 202728 campaign, but he is expected to leave his current club this summer.
