Arsenal and Liverpool chasing highly-rated winger
Premier League leaders Liverpool will hope to maintain their lead at the top when they travel north to face Newcastle United on Wednesday evening.
Arne Slot’s side have started the season in sensational form and sit nine points clear at the top of the standings.
The Reds have won 11 and drawn one of their 13 league matches so far, and they have also been hugely impressive in Europe where they sit top of the Champions League table with a flawless record so far.
Despite their huge advantage at the top of the Premier League table, those in charge of the Reds continue to scour the market for potential transfer targets, and it appears that they have identified an MLS star as a possible signing.
According to CaughtOffside, both Liverpool and Premier League rivals Arsenal are interested in LA Galaxy winger Gabriel Pec, 23.
The Brazilian scored 21 goals and provided 18 assists in 40 matches across all competitions this season, and his tally of 16 goals in the regular league season was bettered only by seven players including Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
The report claims that both the Reds and the Gunners are keeping tabs on the winger, who primarily plays on the right but is also capable of operating on the left flank.
Fellow Premier League sides Fulham, Newcastle, Wolves and Crystal Palace are also said to be monitoring the player, who has also attracted interest from Italian sides Napoli and Inter Milan, as well as Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid.
Pec has been capped seven times by Brazil at Under-23 level and was part of the squad that competed in the Olympic Games over the summer.
The Brazilian attacker is under contract with the MLS side until December 2028, which puts Galaxy in a relatively commanding position during any potential negotiations.
