Americans Abroad Midweek Rewind: Tillman, Dest, and more

PSV earned a favorable first leg draw on Tuesday in its UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash with Borussia Dortmund.

Malik Tillman and Sergino Dest both started and played 90 minutes apiece in PSV’s 1-1 draw against its Bundesliga visitors. Tillman led all players with four fouls drawn and four tackles completed, while also creating two offensive chances. The 21-year-old has continued to earn consistent minutes in Holland and proved another reason why he should remain in Peter Bosz’s starting lineup.

Dest also drew four fouls while also winning nine duels and completing three dribbles from his left back position. The 23-year-old has now made 28 combined appearances for PSV following his arrival on loan from Barcelona.

PSV visits PEC Zwolle in Eredivisie play on Saturday before hosting Feyenoord on March 3.

Elsewhere in Europe, Christian Pulisic, Yunus Musah and AC Milan advanced in Europa League play. Johnny Cardoso and Timmy Chandler were among those elimination from the UEFA Conference League.

In England, Jonathan Tomkinson logged 90 minutes but Bradford City suffered EFL Trophy elimination at home to Wycombe.

Sergino Dest, Malik Tillman started and played 90 minutes in PSV’s 1-1 first leg draw with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

Ricardo Pepi came off the bench and played 15 minutes for PSV.

Christian Pulisic started and played 64 minutes in AC Milan’s 3-2 second leg loss to Rennes on Thursday. AC Milan advanced 5-3 on aggregate.

Yunus Musah started and played 80 minutes for AC Milan.

Conference League

Johnny Cardoso started and played 90 minutes in Real Betis 1-1 second leg draw with Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday. Dinamo Zagreb advanced 2-1 on aggregate.

Henry Wingo started and plated 45 minutes in Ferencvaros 1-0 second leg loss to Olympiakos on Thursday. Olympiakos advanced 2-0 on aggregate.

Christian Cappis did not dress in Molde’s 3-0 second leg win over Legia Warsaw on Thursday. Molde advanced 6-2 on aggregate.

Timmy Chandler came off the bench and played nine minutes in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 2-1 second leg loss to Union St. Gilloise on Thursday. Union St. Gilloise advanced 4-3 on aggregate.
