Americans Abroad Midweek Rewind: Aaronson, McKennie, and more

Leeds United claimed an important three points in its fight for English Premier League survival on Tuesday. Brenden Aaronson delivered a strong shift in Javi Gracia’s squad as the Yorkshire club leapfrogged out of the relegation zone for now.

Aaronson played 74 minutes in Leeds’ 2-1 home victory over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, moving from 18th to 13th in the EPL table. The U.S. men’s national team attacker won two duels, created three chances, and made one recovery from his midfield position. Aaronson was on the field for both of Leeds’ first-half goals, scored by Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra as Leeds United overcame an early deficit to earn its first head-to-head win over Nottingham Forest since the 2017 EFL Championship schedule.

Leeds United will next host Crystal Palace on Sunday in another crucial six-pointer against a fellow relegation struggler.

In Germany, Paxten Aaronson made his German DFB Pokal debut in Eintracht Frankfurt’s win over Union Berlin. Jordan Pefok came off the bench in the loss for Urs Fischer’s squad.
