Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Lovers Mohlala believes the Premier Soccer League can help clubs compete with the defending champions in the transfer market.
Mohlala says raising the PSL monthly grant to at least R5 million might help prevent a situation where all the best players move to one team.
On Friday, Sundowns shocked the local football fraternity when they announced the capture of Thembinkosi Lorch, leaving most of the Orlando Pirates disappointed and hurting.

In the past Pirates were forced to part ways with star players, with Teko Modise and Oupa Manyisa also leaving for the Brazilans.
“We want to see competition in the PSL, this league must not be turned into La Liga in Spain in those years where Barcelona and Real Madrid used to dominate, otherwise it will bore a lot of people,” Mohlala tells KickOff.
“I’m not saying Lorch leaving Pirates for Sundowns will kill our league, people they do go for greener pastures.
“Playing for Sundowns it’s the same as playing overseas. Teams must work hard to keep their players.
“Sundowns are in business, therefore they cannot just stop buying players for the sake of making the league balanced.
“It’s the other teams that must make sure they come to the party and be like Sundowns. So far PSL teams are just scavenging for players. They no longer go for the best.
“I think the PSL must raise their grant. That’s another challenge. With the deal that they have signed with SuperSport, I think each team should get an R5 million grant.
“I think the PSL they are the ones allowing this league to be like this. The grant should be extended.
“They should give these teams more money for this league to be competitive.
“At the moment Sundowns is too powerful, if they want to build a Stadium on top of a mountain they can easily do so. They are ambitious. They have every weapon.
“This is not the Sundowns the likes of Lovers Mohlala played for, this is a different Sundowns that is more ambitious. And to be the best in football you must play with stars.”
