Manchester United will have just one Premier League fixture in January after game moved

Due to schedule changes, Manchester United are poised to play just a single Premier League match in January.

Currently, Erik ten Hag’s side are gearing up to face Wigan and Tottenham at the beginning of the New Year.

They were also due to face Wolves in the league on January 30, but that game has now been moved to February 1 so it can be shown live on TNT Sports.

If they emerge victorious against Wigan in the FA Cup, an additional cup game will be incorporated into their January schedule.

The adjustment in fixtures is likely a welcome development for Manchester United, who lost 3-0 to Bournemouth last time out and are struggling with a number of injury issues.

Their £60million signing from Real Madrid, Casemiro, is expected to make a comeback around mid-January when he recovers from a hamstring injury, while Lisandro Martinez is likely to remain unavailable until the beginning of 2024 due to a foot injury.

The reduced number of fixtures in January may open the door for Tyrell Malacia’s reintegration into the squad, given his absence since the last season due to a knee issue.

Furthermore, the lighter schedule in the new year provides a favourable opportunity for Christian Eriksen, Mason Mount, and Amad Diallo to make their comebacks from injuries.

In a broader context, the fixture changes have also affected other Premier League matches, including Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal, Aston Villa vs Newcastle and Tottenham vs Brentford.

Man City vs Burnley, Liverpool vs Chelsea and West Ham vs Bournemouth have also been moved due to TV scheduling.
