Cristiano Ronaldo’s decision to leave Europe and join Al-Nassr sent shockwaves throughout the football world. As one of the greatest players of all time, his move to Saudi Arabia signaled a significant shift in the landscape of soccer.  On the other hand, MLS secured Lionel Messi’s signature for Inter Miami. Former United States international Taylor Twellman has proposed an exciting idea for the next MLS All-Star match. Twellman suggests pitting the MLS All-Stars against a Saudi Pro League side comprised of the best players in the competition. Setting the stage for a potential reunion of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking on the Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, Twellman stated, “You know what the next All-Star game I would do? Saudi Arabia All-Stars versus MLS All-Stars, and I would put it in the Rose Bowl. I would put it in the Rose Bowl and have Messi versus Ronaldo that one last time.”

The growing interest in both the MLS and Saudi Pro League on the global landscape fuels Twellman’s suggestion. Tapping into the global fascination with the Messi-Ronaldo rivalry, the USMNT legend believes this match would captivate fans from both leagues.

Messi’s arrival has had a profound impact on MLS. At the same time, the Saudi league has drawn attention with its blend of seasoned players.

During the interview, Twellman also shared his thoughts on Neymar‘s move to Al Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain. Highlighting the increasing global market presence of both leagues. Twellman boldly stated, “Both leagues are now on the radar of the World Market that they weren’t 6, 8, 12 months ago. I would play into the Messi-Ronaldo thing in two seconds, I don’t know if you see Ronaldo here, I would be shocked if you don’t see Neymar here in two.”

Recent reports suggest Neymar has been offered a two-year contract with an annual salary of around $100 million. Approximately half of what Al-Nassr is paying Ronaldo.

Despite notable financial incentives and the common perception surrounding player transfers to the oil-rich region. Neymar explained his decision to move to the Middle East to become a ‘global player’. His focus on personal growth outweighed purely monetary considerations.
