Amid Global Attention Due to Kim Kardashian’s Visit, $2 Billion Worth Arsenal Fined Nearly a Staggering $226,000 for Referee Abuse

Soccer games are bound to be heated, with the nerves being high in crucial games. The heated exchanges between the opponent players or managers result in fines for the club. It is the result of things going out of control of referees and federations charging fines on the club for not controlling the players. Recently, SunSport released the list of punishments, with Premier League leaders Arsenal topping the list for the amount of fine paid.

The English publication did it in the wake of the incidents in the FA Cup game between Manchester United and Fulham. Two Fulham players and their manager saw red cards in the space of a minute during the game. The club is waiting for the punishment to be known for Aleksandar Mitrovic and manager Marco Silva from FA.

FA charged Arsenal four times this season

Arsenal leads the table of the fines paid this season for the misbehavior of its players. FA has fined them four times this season. The total fine Arsenal has served so far is just over $226,000. The single largest fine the club has given for failing to control its players is over $79,000. 

On November 2, FA charged Arsenal a fine of over $24,000 for failing to control their players. All the punishments have come for failing to check the players. FA again charged the club on January 13, imposing a sanction of $55,000. On January 19, FA imposed a fine of around $73,000. It was on February 15, Arsenal paid the highest fine of the season so far, $79,000.

However, it’s not only Arsenal who was charged by FA this season. The fifteen other clubs, including the Gunners, have also paid fines this season. FA has collected a staggering $1.14 million in fines from the Premier League clubs, with Manchester United and Everton behind Arsenal in the top three. The five clubs who are yet to be charged by FA are Newcastle United, Brentford, Leicester City, AFC Bournemouth, and Southampton.

Kardashian was in attendance at the Emirates Stadium last week to watch the Gunners taking on Sporting Lisbon. It was a return leg of the round of 16 game in the Europa League. Arsenal went out of the Europa League, losing to Sporting on penalties. Her presence didn’t go well for the Premier League leaders.

Arsenal is out of contention for all other trophies except the Premier League. They can now thoroughly focus on the league. The Londoners have a comfortable eight-point lead over the nearest rival, Manchester City, who are in contention for the FA Cup, the UEFA Champions League, and the Premier League. It can prove beneficial for Arsenal in the title race with ten games to go.
