Christian Pulisic back available ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League match
The wait is over for U.S. men’s national team star Christian Pulisic as his former club comes to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
Chelsea manager Graham Potter confirmed that Pulisic is available ahead of Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League second leg vs. Borussia Dortmund. The 24-year-old suffered a serious knee injury on January 5 against Manchester City, which forced him to miss 10 matches across all competitions.
‘Christian is in the squad. He’s training well and looking good,” Potter said in his pre-match press conference Monday.
Pulisic has scored one goal and registered two assists in 21 combined appearances for the Blues this season. He had been linked with an exit from Chelsea in January with Arsenal, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund and others being previously linked with his services.
Pulisic’s return is a positive sign for Potter and the Blues with several key players still sidelined with respective injuries. Edouard Mendy, Thiago Silva, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, and Armando Broja all still remain out for Chelsea.
Chelsea is down 1-0 on aggregate to Borussia Dortmund following a first leg defeat at Signal Iduna Park. European elimination would be another negative result for Chelsea, which has only won two matches in 2023.
