Man United interested in surprise move for World Cup star
Manchester United have won all three of their Premier League games since the World Cup, moving The Red Devils up to fourth in the table.
Erik ten Hag’s side have been in fine form, despite the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in November.
Marcus Rashford has scored in each of his last three league outings, but despite the England international’s good form, it appears that United could still be looking for a new forward.
According to 90min, The Red Devils are looking into the possibility of signing Ajax star Mohammed Kudus.
The forward impressed for Ghana at the World Cup in Qatar, and United are now exploring the idea of singing him on a loan deal.
Kudus, 22, scored twice in Qatar and has previously worked with United boss Ten Hag during his time in Amsterdam.
The report claims that no official offer has been made for the player, although talks have taken place with a view to a possible deal.
United are said to be interested in a loan-to-buy deal, as they look to source a replacement for Ronaldo without spending too much.
Other names that United are said to be interested in include ex-Chelsea man Olivier Giroud, Cameroon international Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and former Red Devil Memphis Depay.
Ten Hag has already overseen the signings of two of his former Ajax players – Lisandro Martinez and Antony – but it looks like he may be on course to land a third.
Kudus’ versatility will appeal to the Dutchman, with the Ghanaian able to play as a striker, attacking midfielder or winger.
The forward joined Ajax from Danish side Nordsjaelland back in 2020, and has since scored 15 goals in 63 matches for the club across all competitions.
Since Ronaldo’s departure, Ten Hag has primarily opted to deploy Anthony Martial as a centre-forward, while youngster Alejandro Garnacho has also benefitted from the Portuguese’s exit, featuring in United’s last five league games.
