Ebenezer Akinsanmiro: Sampdoria coach Alberico Evani drops hint on future of Inter Milan-owned star
Sampdoria coach Alberico Evani has hinted that Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro might return to Inter Milan when his season-long loan transfer expires at the end of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.
Akinsanmiro joined Sampdoria from Inter Milan last summer after he was told that he was not part of Simone Inzaghi’s plans for the season. However, the 20-year-old Nigerian midfielder has adjusted to life in Serie B quite seamlessly and has become an important member of the team at Sampdoria.
This season, Aknsanmiro has featured in 33 games and has a goal and an assist to his name. Primarily a central midfielder, the Beyond Limits Academy product can also play as an attacking midfielder.
Amid his decent campaign for Sampdoria this season, Akinsanmiro’s future has been in the balance, as Sampdoria have a buy-option in the loan deal for Akinsanmiro. If that happens, then he will not play top-flight football next season.
Meanwhile, Sampdoria coach Evani has hinted that Akinsanmiro might not stay long at the club. The Italian tactician recently took charge at Sampdoria, and he spoke about some of the players on loan, including Akinsanmiro.

“They need to be on an equal footing. It’s logical that when you’re young and you find yourself in a situation like this, fighting for a different goal than the team you were in before, the staff and those around you need to be good at making you feel like a protagonist,” Evani said, per fcinternews.
“It’s true that they are here on loan and that they will probably return to their parent company, but it shouldn’t be an experience done just for the sake of it, because when you marry a project you do it to achieve goals, even personal ones, but if you lose it stays on your CV”.
Aside from Sampdoria, does Ebenezer Akinsanmiro have other options?
As at press time, no club has shown interest in acquiring Akinsanmiro’s services permanently. So this means that he could join Sampdoria permanently at the end of the season or they could extend his loan deal.
Inter Milan are spoilt for choice in the middle of the park, so returning there might not be a good option for him. However, he will look to improve his game so he can attract a decent club in the Serie A or a club in one of the top European leagues.
