Manchester United midfielder set to leave club this summer

Manchester United face tough games against Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Newcastle United when the Premier League returns next month.

The Red Devils currently sit 13th in the Premier League table and are therefore at serious risk of missing out on qualification for European football next term.

Ruben Amorim’s side are in the last eight of the Europa League, however, and triumphing in that competition may represent United’s best opportunity of returning to Europe’s top club competition next season.

Amorim and those in charge of United’s recruitment could be busy this summer, with several members of the current squad facing uncertain futures at Old Trafford.

With that in mind, it appears that one of United’s most experienced players is set to leave the club at the end of the current campaign.

As per Fabrizio Romano, midfielder Christian Eriksen is set to leave Manchester United when his contract expires this summer.

The Dane continues to feature relatively regularly for Amorim’s side, but Romano claims that the player’s plan remains to leave his current side this summer.

Eriksen, 33, joined United as a free agent in 2022 following the expiry of his contract with former side Brentford.

His next appearance for the Red Devils will be his 100th across all competitions, but he may not have the chance to add too many more to his tally as Romano claims that this season will be his last at Old Trafford.

Eriksen has made 27 appearances this term, scoring four goals and providing the same number of assists.

He has previously played for Ajax and Inter Milan, as well as featuring more than 300 times for Tottenham Hotspur during spell in North London.
