4 must-have players for FPL Gameweek 26

The deadline for FPL Gameweek 26 is rapidly approaching, though there are still a few more hours left for players to get their final transfers in before the weekend.

There are a number of issues for managers to address, with Liverpool and Chelsea not in action due to the Carabao Cup final as well as Tottenham and Luton Town blanking. With fresh injuries ruling stars like Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlind out of contention, some new picks are needed to ensure that green arrow come Monday night.

With stars from Arsenal and Brighton among the most desirable ahead of the deadline, here’s 90min’s four FPL players you need to sign for Gameweek 26.

Arsenal‘s strength at set pieces is well known, having scored 16 goals from them so far this season.

Gunners defender Gabriel Magalhaes is a key part in that success. The Brazilian is a major threat in the opposition box, scoring three times so far in 2023/24, and the injury-riddled Newcastle side that visit the Emirates Stadium may struggle with the hosts’ physicality from free-kicks and corners.

Gabriel kept a clean sheet at Burnley after scoring in the similar thumping of West Ham. The 24.7% of managers who own the 26-year-old may well be celebrating another healthy return come Saturday night.

Wolves’ fixture with Sheffield United presents an opportunity to stuff your team with Wanderers assets.

Matheus Cunha recently suffered an injury which will sideline him for the foreseeable future, leaving Hwang Hee-chan as the natural replacement up front after returning from the Asian Cup with South Korea.

He didn’t score at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but six of his ten Premier League strikes so far this season have come at Molineux. With the Blades conceding 65 goals already in 2023/24, make sure you get a Wolves player into your team for what could be a large win for Gary O’Neil’s side.

Brighton have had mixed fortunes of late, winning and losing two apiece in their last four outings, but Pascal Gross has consistently rewarded FPL backers in recent weeks.

Two goals and three assists in fixtures with Crystal Palace, Tottenham and Sheffield United helped the Germany international amass 29 points in the last three gameweeks, eight have which have come as bonuses.

The Seagulls were stunned when Everton last visited the AMEX Stadium, being handed a 5-1 defeat by Sean Dyche’s outfit, but it might be Saturday’s south coast hosts who do the battering this time around.

Trossard has been lethal in the Premier League of late / Visionhaus/GettyImages

Arsenal’s rampage on the goalscoring front was halted in their midweek Champions League defeat to Porto. However, there’ll be no excuses for playing for a draw when Newcastle visit on Saturday night.

Leandro Trossard has helped himself to three goals and an assist in the last three gameweeks, playing up front alongside Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in the absence of regular striker Gabriel Jesus.

While the Brazil international is closing in on a return to full fitness, Trossard should retain his starting place as the Gunners seek to avenge the controversial loss they suffered at St James’ Park on Gameweek 11.
